Yuengling Will Now Serve Ohio
To all our readers in Ohio, it’s time to celebrate. Instead of driving to Pennsylvania for your case of Yuengling, the oldest brewery in the US has decided to sell its beer in your state.
Yuengling only distributes to 14 states nationwide, yet was still the #4 brewery in the US in 2009. Last year, they announced expansion to a new plant in Memphis, Tenn. Needless to say, the brewery was excited about it’s expansion.
“It’s going to be so exciting,” said Pat Noone, the brewery’s business development manager and the one spearheading the move into the Buckeye State. “The launch in [Ohio] is going to be huge. It’s probably going to be the most successful launch in Yuengling’s history.”
The company had not been able to serve Ohio residents due to a lack of production (i.e. their beer was already too popular in current states that they distribute to). "Ohio is one of largest states in the country and in terms of beer consumption, and we needed to make sure that when we did come, we were able to service the state properly," Noone said.
Well it’s been a long time coming. There was even a site set up as a petition for the brewery to expand its operations: www.bringyuenglingtoohio.com.
The expansion is slated to take place this October and the brewery is currently taking meetings with potential distributors, retailers and customers. If success follows in Ohio, perhaps Yuengling will continue its expansion westward.
