Looking for a One Night Stand, Find a Beer Drinker
Christian Rudder, co-founder of the free online dating site OKCupid, has been compiling statistics on his website to try and determine which factors influence relationship styles. Rudder, a Harvard graduate, started his site in 2004 and more recently took a statistical approach to compatibility by analyzing profiles and interactions between hundreds of millions of users.
Rudder uncovered one statistic that was of particular interest to writers at Beer-Universe: men and women that like the taste of beer are 60% more likely to sleep with someone on the first date. This fact was also independent of sexual preference, whether homosexual or straight, beer drinkers like to hop in the sack early.
Rudder unburied a number of interesting trends to determine the highest likelihood for long-term compatibility. One might guess the following factors would come into play: desire to procreate, views on God, morals, politics. Strangely enough, Rudder determined that these three questions were observed to be the best glue for keeping a relationship together:
- Wouldn’t it be fun to chuck it all and go live on a sailboat?
- Do you like horror movies?
- Have you ever traveled around another country alone?
He then decided to take a look at body image ideals amongst female users. He found that women who classified themselves as “curvy” had more confidence and were far more interested in sex than those women that described themselves as “skinny”. This trend ascended all age groups interestingly enough. Rudder determined that the sex drive of women trends upwards into her late 30’s where it peaks and trends downward through her 40’s. However, self confidence in women typically increases continuously with age.
Lastly, it was determined that frequent tweeters had a hard time maintaining long-term relationships. So if you are in search of love, you should probably avoid Twitterverse.
One great thing about statistics is that they are strictly numbers and each person can interpret or justify them in any way that makes sense to them. Writers at Beer-Universe brought you the truth behind the “Beer Goggles” in this article, The Beer Goggles Effect Hits Women Harder Than Men. Based on the research in this article, the stereotypically more particular sex, women, were actually more affected by the Beer Goggle Effect. We here at Beer-Universe encourage you to do whatever makes you happy. So drink lots of beer and stay freaky my friends.
Your Choice. Your Beer. Drink Up.
