Commercial Description
Alt. The name of this beer style comes from the German word "alt" meaning "old". This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.
Richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to make this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well balanced.
Alaskan Amber is based on a recipe from a turn-of-the-century brewery in the Juneau area. It was voted "Best Beer in the Nation" in the 1988 Great American Beer Festival Consumer Poll.
Great with a variety of foods. Serve with king or silver salmon, flavorful meats and hearty Italian dishes. Perfect with pizza. A good beer for the first-time micro drinkers as well as seasoned connoisseurs.

The boss of my friend ordered this from Alaska and I managed to get my hands one one. Seeing as my friends boss is from Alaska, he missed it so much he had to get some.

Appearance: Dark amber, almost a copper color. It has a light tan head that quickly dissipates.

Aroma: Malty, sweet, a slight smell of hops.

Taste: Very mellow, grainy, malty. Light carbonation.

One of my go to ambers, great balance of flavors. Widely available in Wash state so if you are in a tavern that only serves mainly the corporate beers this is usually on tap as well.

Great Amber...definitely my favorite. Discovered while living in Anchorage. Definitely the best offered by this brewery. Excellent everyday stand-by beer and even enjoyed by my husband who generally is a light beer drinker

I very much enjoy this Amber. It has nice full taste yet does not over power with spices. It's an even full flavor beer. It became an instant favorite of mine and was also recommended upon ordering an amber, which is always greatly appreciated.

one of my favorite Ambers. Great taste, very smooth and full of flavor. Of all the different brews from this brewery, the Amber is my favorite.
