Commercial Description

Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale is brewed with over 11 pounds of real pumpkin per barrel, adding a full body and sweetness to this dark reddish amber brew. Deep roasted malts, including a smoked malt, lend a distinct roasted character while traditional pumpkin pie spices give the beer a subtle spice note.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle Appearance: Its body has a very nice deep reddish amber color with very clarity. From the pour it makes a good inch of creamy off white foam. It quickly settles down to thin covering that just hangs on to the last sip with the help of a few quick swirls. At the top of the glass it leaves some cool lace patterns. Smell: The aroma has mostly cinnamon notes with some other pie spices over rich dark bready and pie crust like malts. Taste/Palate: There is a pleasant cinnamon and pie spice character with mild bitterness though out. Pumpkin or squash like flavor is very light but it is there and it is supported buy sweet bready and toasty pie crust like malty flavor notes. The finish is fairly quick with mild bitterness and spice. Notes: I am really loving this beer right now. This one is a stand out in an already solid fall mixed pack.

[Best served in a Lager glass]

The pour was a clear dark amber with a reddish hue and had an average sized (1-2 finger) creamy off white head which produced some good lacing.

The aroma was moderately strong of a toasted bread malt and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg and pumpkin.

The taste was a nice malty sweet with a nice note of brown sugar and allspice from the onset and finished about the same with a hint of nutmeg and a nice dose of pumpkin at the end. The flavor lingered for a descent amount of time allowing for the spices to settle nicely on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was just a tad under medium in body and quite creamy yet a little dry in texture with a nice forceful carbonation.

Overall a flavorful Pumpkin Ale with just the right amount of spices blended together for a nice tasty experience.

A gorgeous orange and tan color and delicious spices. While I did taste some pumpkin, it was mostly in the background. But those warm, delectable pumpkin pie spices were right up front. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, they're all there. It was still refreshing and crisp, too. And even though it is heavily spiced, it is fantastically well balanced.
