Commercial Description

Pitch Black IPA takes you to the dark side with our take on Cascadian Dark Ale. Debittered black malt lends a midnight hue along with rich, toasty malt flavor. Generous doses of Alchemy and Cascade hops provide a complex herbal aroma and subtle citrus note, balanced perfectly by a smooth Widmer Brothers finish. Embrace the dark side.

Yum. Hop heads looking for a different profile will love this. Dark, smooth, not too agressive. I love this beer and break it out often to share with my fellow hop heads (pale ale and traditional IPA drinkers). They pick up the subtle differnces of the dark malt, but are really suprised by how comperable this is to an IPA... all while appreciating what makes it unique.

Poured black with a very low amount of beige foam and below average lacing.
Aroma is on the faint side, mostly roasted malts and some faint piny hops.
The taste is very roasty, slightly bitter around the edges and lacks any kind of sweetness. Finishes with the piney hops, lower on the bitterness with not much dryness either.
Mouthfeel is just a tad thin with medium carbonation that fits well. Hard to believe it's 6.5% alcohol.
