What was the first craft beer you remember tasting? Note: craft beer is outside the beers marketed by Anheuser-Busch, Miller and Molson coors.
My first craft - Sam Adams Winter Ale - Fenway Park - Memorable on all fronts
I had a sierra nevada when I was 18 in college - thought it was the grossest thing in the world after drinking all the bud light.
Now, that's all changed. I love IPAs and can't get enough of beers like Sierra nevada, definitely an acquired taste!
Bell's Best Brown Ale while in Washington DC for business at a local, craft beer bar called Breadsoda two year ago. Have since fallen in love with crafts and hope to learn more about different styles.
The 1st micro-beer I ever had was Young's Chocolate Stout; and I thought it was gross. While I have matured since then im still not a huge fan of stouts.
and now i review them all! over at Dos Beer-igos
First craft beer i ever had i cant pronounce. In fact I dont even remember i think it was called Blanche de Namur and Watou's Wit. All i know was it was from Belgium. My goal is to find some great US beers that remind me of there. Any help would be much appreciated.
JT2003. I have had some really good and bad Wit's in my time. My wife is addicted to them. If your looking for a solid American Wit/White try Starr Hill "the Love", Lost Coast "Great White", and Avery White Rascal.
Ohh yah and on the import scene you might want to try Unibroue's Wit (i just did a review on it and it will be on the blog this week, prb tomm, but i cant remember the name of it!)

'real ale' rye. oh, the grain flavor is magnificent!
What was your first beer in general? I had fosters warm, it was gross.
I think it was Bud Light or Bud......i thought it tasted like crap, still sorta do!!! lol
My 1st Craft Beer: Big Sky Moose Drool
Oh, and also New Belgium Fat Tire
that's crazy, mine was big sky moose drool as well, followed by fat tire..... strange...
DosBeerigos - Thanks for the suggestions, helps alot. I think I may try the Starr Hill and Avery beers first as i know of some of each of their other beers through friends.
What's the difference between a craft beer and regular beer?
Better question is what is the diff between Micro and "regular". The answer to that is the amount of beer produced. Ie Dogfish head vs Miller
As for craft. Well that's usually grouped with Micro's but some of the big boys like Michelob has a "craft" line.
My first craft beer was a Pale Ale from the Pacific Beach Brew Pub in San Diego, CA (circa 1992). I lived 6-blocks from the PB Brew Pub and drank beers and ate there almost everyday in college.
Chris - it still open? Traveling out there later next month and I like beer landmarks :)
My first craft beer was a Bluegrass Brewing Company Summer Wheat. Excellent beer to start with. Wasn't too strong but just tasted different and I liked it. First time I ever "tasted" and "smelled" hops.
Something from Water Street Brewery in Milwaukee in '93. Wow, thats a long time ago... Never been the same since.
Fat tire. Age 15. loved it for like the next 3 years then started to branch out...
New Holland Dragon’s Milk crud in bottle! is a great beer but When you sipped it into your mouth it was almost like a large wad of phlegm.. Grosss..!!!!
But still that is the best beer ever...
The first I can remember was a Ten Fidy from Oskar Blues.
Have you guys tried anything from Hook and Ladder in the DC area? Amazing.
Many years ago I went to Vermont for 4th of July with a few of my bro's and they turned me onto a Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout and I have never looked back.
