"I'm considering buying a Sony NEX VG20, and I can't find information on whether Premiere Elements 10.0 can import it's files. The VG20 video format is AVCHD 2.0 (MPEG-4 AVC(H.264)), 1920x1080 @ 60p/24//60i. If Premiere Elements can't import the files directly, is there a work-around?"

Basically, I would not recommend using AVCHD 60p or 24p with the current versions of Premiere Elements, civex. But AVCHD 60i should work just fine. If you have already taken AVCHD footage in 60p or 24p, a preferable workaround is converting AVHCD .mts/.m2ts video to MOV or other editable formats (MPG, AVI, etc). In the following paragraphs I'll show you how to convert AVCHD to MOV files for importing to Adobe Elements 10.

The Panasonic GH3 once again focuses on video as much as photo performance. From the specs we can see that the new Lumix DSLR records at much higher bitrate video. AVCHD capture is now at up to 1080/50p. However, the big news is a QuickTime mode that records at 1080/24p, 1080/25p or 720/50p using an unusually high 72Mbit/s bit rate and all-intra compression. Unlike normal AVC compression, this describes each frame from scratch rather than updating areas that have changes since the last frame. It should give less compression artifacts than the heavily compressed AVCHD output from the GH2, particularly for fast-moving scenes. QuickTime 1080/50p capture is at 50Mbit/s, and while it doesn't use all-intra compression, it should still give better results than the GH2's 24Mbit/s maximum bit rate.

The 1080/50p shooting mode brings Full HD 1920x1080p video with best possible quality, but it could be a problem if you're working AVCHD footage in Avid Media Composer. Avid does not support the 50p footage. So far I am still not able to import the 1080/50p from my Panasonic DHC-TM900. But still the 50i AVCHD is very good to see on a 42 inch plasma screen.

Any homebrewers experienced with blending sours?

My buddy and I are in the final stages of preparing our first sour. The first batch has been aging for 1.5 years. The second batch we are blending with will end up being 6-8 weeks old. We were pretty worried about the lack of maturity in the second batch and used sour cherries (or Michigan cherries) in the secondary to balance out the immaturity and add another level of depth.

We brewed 10 gallons of our blending batch. Five will actually be used for blending and the other 5 is going to sit for 2 more years and we will try this all over again.

If anyone has any feedback or ideas I welcome them. For example, we have contemplated brewing another batch at the 1 year point to have 3 different blends availalbe.

Well I have finally put together my reciepe for my big ass IPA that I will venture into brewing probally next weekend.

but

I need to order the supplies. I have priced around on several sites as well as my local Homebrew supply store, and cant find anyone to beat the TOTAL price after shipping from RebelBrewer.com

I love the site but wanted to try something different, NorthernBrewer.com i have heard good things about and their shipping seems to be a good deal, but their prices are more expensive at the end....

Anyone have any suggestions or new websites that they have had success with?
