12 oz can into a tulip. Best by 07/19/2015 so very near the end of freshness.
A: Dark, dirty gold with a strong inch tall head of pillowy texture. Very good retention and lacing. Small amount of visible carbonation. Looks good.
S: Sweet orange aroma and maybe a touch of caramel malt. Very little pine, but could be a touch of spruce which I do like. Smells good too.
T: Much more pine than in the nose. A bitter orange flavor does come through. The caramel seems to be lost. Good tasting but perhaps not exceptional. I’ll venture to say above average for the style though.
M: Light but not quite watery with a noticeable resin/oilyness. Average carbonation is enough to make it interesting.
O: One of the better SIPAs I’ve had and I’ve now had quite a few. Well priced and available means worth buying if you like the style.

12 oz. bottle - pint glass. Best by 10/22/2015
A :Pours a short loose head atop a rich brassy color.. Hazy with fine visible sediment. Little to no visible carbonation.
S: Pine is the first note detected in the smell with a faint orange hint as well. Light but nice scent.
T: Definitely piney but with a noticeable tart orange flavor to offset. Pretty nice overall even without much of a malt flavor. Some resin on the mouth.
M: Light but not watery with a bit of a rough oiliness and slightly more carbonation than is visible.
O: I was quite pleased overall. Good mouthfeel to top off a good (not great) tasting, good smelling session ale. Pretty good take on the session ale style. Worth an occasional purchase although at $10/6 not exactly cheap.

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Best by 10/28/2015
A: Very pale clear straw color with a small but persistent head and nice leggy lacing. Little visible carbonation.
S: Smells nicely of biscuit, cracker and a slight bit of floral hops. Sort of like a Czech pilsner.
T: Crisp and wet with less malt flavor and instead a mild citrus rind hop note. Alas a bit watery to be sure. Not bad. Hoppy finish is kind of nice, adds a bit of character.
M: Thin and a bit watery with a good bit of bubbles on the tongue. Average at best.
O: I had heard this compared to various pilsners and I get that from the smell, but I don’t think it holds up to that expectation or that of a pale ale. Pleasant enough but not worth another purchase IMO.

    12 oz.bottle into a tulip best by 08/09/2015
A: Very cold pour results in almost no head and a lingering collar of foam with little lace left. Very clear burnished gold
S: Very fruity. Tropical with a hint of pine. Fairly light scent. Peachy.
T: A little more pine in the taste with the fruit showing up a bit later at the back of the mouth. Not bad but not sure I’m quite impressed. A slight hit of toast is all but lost.
M: Light body and average amount of carbonation. Refreshing and easy drinking.
O: Another SIPA tried and this one was rather average over all. Widely available though and very well priced means it’s worth an occasional buy.

Pint can into a Sam Smith’s nonic This beer was canned 10 days ago.
A: Bright clear amber orange with 3 fingers of beige foam. Great retention. Active carbonation.
    S: Citrus, tangerine, grapefruit.
T: Immediate hit of pine. Citrus from the nose is mostly absent. Some toast in the middle sits on the tongue. Mild bitterness lingers at the finish.
M: Tingly but not too much so. Slightly oily/soapy feel. A little chewiness.
O: Had big hopes for this but well... Tastes more like an IPA. Like a watered down Sculpin or something. Pretty good and all but... Whelmed, but not overly.

12 oz. bottle into a pilsner. Best by 02/24/2015 so already a full 2 months past fresh. Fucking Total Wine, man...
A: Pours a rich tawny brass color with a half inch fine beaded head which retains fairly well and laces in sheets. Steady carbonation rising.Nice.
S:Citrus smack at the start with subtle fruity dough rounding out the nose
T: A bland white bread/baguette malt hit opens the taste. Dry bitter hops follow and manage good balance. Alcohol is noticed in the finish and is unwelcome. Herbal hop and flat bread dominate. Not so much fruity as the nose unfortunately however as it warms fruit flavors reappear. Not grapefruit though, more pear/melon notes but OK. Has an off-putting mineral/vegetal taste that lingers. Not too good overall.
M: Medium heavy body with a good deal of carbonation to break things up. I think the high ABV does more harm than good.
O: A bit disappointed with this considering the great reviews by others. However my six is well past freshness date so probably worth a revisit if I can find it fresh.

    12 oz can
A: Gentle pour from can yeilds 1/2 inch tight foam head that quickly settles to attractive lace pattern. Average carbonation. Deep brass color.
S: Citrusy hops and a bit of sweet bread on the nose. That’s about it but smells like IPA but lighter.
T: Sharp hop bite upfront. Citrus pith mainly. Cracker/biscuit barely detectable for balance.
M: Sticky and sharp with tingly carbonation. Very sessionable if unremarkable. I like the tradeoff as I like low ABV.
O: Not bad. I’m becoming a fan of the style but this is merely OK.

From bottle to a tulip. Filled 03/11/2015.
A: Pours a rich gold with an inch of craggy eggshell foam. A slight haze but maybe from chill. Average carbonation and very good head retention. Nice lacing also.
S: Pronounced citrus aroma. Lemon/orange more than the expected grapefruit. No malt scent that I can discern but the beer is very cold.
T: Taste is a sort of hollow lemon and toasted sourdough. Seems watery. Potential is there but disappointing actually. I know low ABV is an objective here, but this needs more malt body. A slight vegetal note becomes evident as it warms. Doesn’t help.
M: Very light in body as expected with more carbonation than shows in appearance. Average.
O: As much as I wanted to love this, I honestly can’t find much to recommend. This Ale looks good and smells delicious but the taste fails to live up to expectations.
