Wonderful example of the new Black IPA style, with a roasted and nutty malt aroma and backbone to balance a good hop bite. Reminiscent of its namesake oil spill, the beer pours an impenetrable black. My only complaint is that the beer is a bit thin for name like Toxic Sludge. Still, bump it an extra point because a portion of every sale goes to help clean up the Gulf!
