The Great Fire of 1900 left an indelible mark on Hull’s downtown landscape. The “Turn of the Cindery,” as this rauchbier might be called, with its subtle aroma of smoked deli meats, is inspired by the traditional Bamberg Rauchbier. A whiff of beech wood delicately makes room for a honeyed fullness, yet is maintained by a fickle effervescence. The clean taste leaves behind barely a trace of smoke, like a memory a hundred years gone.
